SUMMARY:Friends of MUSD Service to Education Awards
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Montebello Unified School District Foundation (FMUSDF) will hold its annual  Service to Education Awards event on Sunday\, October 11th at 4:00 p.m.   Due to these extraordinary times\, this year's program will be held as a virtual streaming event\, and will honor two groups of district personnel who exemplify this year's theme: "Extraordinary Times\, Extraordinary Efforts\, Extraordinary People."\n\n\n\nThe first group to be honored is the staff of the MUSD Nutrition Services Department who\, with the support of the Transportation Department\, have acted as true heroes on the front lines.  Under very restrictive and changing conditions\, they safely and efficiently provided nutritious meals and excellent customer service to parents for their children staying at home during the school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  \n\n\n\nThe second group of honorees is the MUSD personnel who have acted to support the implementation of instructional technology and the use of Chromebooks in support of distance learning while schools pivot to provide education through virtual platforms.  The work of these "Google Ambassadors" has been a timely and valuable service.\n\n\n\nThe program will include:\n\n	Recognition of the Nutrition Services staff and Google Ambassadors \n	Recorded musical performances by MUSD students\n	Introduction of recent scholarship recipients of the FMUSDF\n	Online Auction\n\nThe funds raised during the auction will provide student scholarships and help to support the performing arts and other educational programs and needs of the MUSD.  The auction will include many fun and valuable items donated just for this event\, including unique art\, gift baskets and personal enrichment opportunities.  \n\nSince 2015\, the FMUSDF has awarded over $180\,000 to MUSD schools and students.
